LEO clubs are a youth organization of Lions Clubs International. The word “LEO” stands for leadership, experience, and opportunity. LEO clubs encourage youth to develop leadership qualities by participating in social service activities.
Through the Leo Club Program, young people serve as positive agents of change within their communities. These young leaders develop valuable leadership skills, make new friends and have fun.
On the 17th in the Checkers restaurant of Alvirne High School, the charter was signed by members of the Alvirne Broncos LEO club and a new chapter was born. The club is sponsored by the Hudson Lions Club, which has provided service to Hudson since 1947. LEO clubs started in 1957 and to date has a presence in 40 different countries with 6,500 clubs nationwide.
New Leo members include Maria Gargano, president; Jared Turmel, vice president; Shannon Goocher, treasurer; Priya Slingerland, secretary; Jocelyn Barriault, Annika Kallgren, Jennasis Martin, Nidhi Bodalwala, Neha Chava, Danielle Burge, Emma Handy, Brandon DiCarlo, Michael Provost, Owen Pedi, Connor Geoffroy, and Sejal Chandra.
Jerry Vaccaro has been working with the new LEO members for several months with both advisers Leslie Reven and Lynn Morin. Vaccaro currently is 1st vice-district governor of NH Lions 44-H, which elevates him to district governor next year.
The new LEO club will support many of the service activities of the Lions and have their own projects as well.
