Alvirne High School’s JROTC cadets hosted the third drill competition for this school year. Cadets from Pinkerton, Salem, Spaulding, and Alvirne participated in the all-day competition. Alvirne’s JROTC program has more than 100 cadets who participate.
Each school competed in Color Guard, armed and unarmed duals, new cadet marching, armed and unarmed inspections, unarmed regulation, and armed regulation competitions.
Judges for the event were both reservists and active military members from the Army National Guard, Army recruiters, ROTC cadets from the University of New Hampshire, and ROTC cadets from the University of Massachusetts.
The competition results from Alvirne High were as follows: armed regulation as well armed inspection teams placed first, while the new cadet, unarmed dual, unarmed inspection, and unarmed regulation teams all earned second-place spots.
Alvirne’s Kayleigh D’Amico won the armed category of the Individual Drill Regulation, while Bridget Gilligan and Nellie Books won unarmed.
