Veterans from the USS Newport News along with the local members of the Police and Fire Departments met at the 9/11 Memorial at Benson Park on June 26.  The veterans of the USS Newport News get together for a reunion every two years. This year, the veterans decided to honor those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 attacks.   It was a short ceremony beginning with the posting of the colors.  Soon after that Alvirne graduate Devan Lyman beautifully sang the National Anthem. Selectman Ted Luszey made an appearance and gave a tear jerking speech about attacks that infamous September day.  After the ceremonial “Laying of the Wreath” the Hudson American Legion Post 48 firing squad gave a 21 gun salute.
