On Thursday, September 5 many gathered at the Alvirne High School music room to not only partake in the monthly F.O.M. (Friends of Music) meeting, but to also celebrate the recent renovations that have taken place there over the past several months. Alvirne trustees, school board members, students and teachers were sitting comfortably in the now spacious music room. The Alvirne trustees donated $65,000 to ensure the room was equipped with state of the art technology and sound proofing equipment. From the sound proof acoustic tiles, to the dedicated practice rooms, the new music room is equivalent to that of any college or university. “We really gutted this place out,” said Jerry Bastien who has been the music director at the high school for the past 18 years. Jerry explained how appreciative he is of the community’s support of his music program and viewed the new renovations as not only a way for the kids to benefit, but for the people of Hudson to benefit through the many concerts, parades, and games the bands perform in.
