The Hudson Firefighters Relief Association and Hudson Fire Department held its Annual Retired Members Barbecue at Central Fire Station on Aug. 2.  This year the event was held in the newly renovated meeting room on the second floor of the station.

Fourteen retired members joined present-day firefighters at the event.  The barbecue is held each year to honor and thank those who have served the department and since retired.  Many of the past firefighters get to see the firefighters that they worked with for many years and have gone their ways.  Many stories are passed between the retired group as they remember the blazes of the past.

It also gives them a chance to meet the newest department members, look at the latest equipment used by the department and take a tour of the renovated station.

Retires attending this year’s event included Richard Tyler, Art Shepard, Ed Sheibler, Clint Weaver, Steve Benton, John Abbott, Shawn Murray, Dave Morin, Gary Rodgers, Harry Chesnevich, George Fuller, Dick Marshall and Jack Brewer.  Among them totaled more than 400 years of experience.

Members of Hudson Fire Group 2 cooked the barbecue meal for all those attending.
