Scouts Forget the Heat during Family Fun Day

What started as a scavenger hunt for Boy Scout packs 20, 252, and 21, quickly evolved into a family fun day at Benson Park.  On Saturday, September 6, from 1 to 4 p.m., Cub Scouts and their families could be seen running around the park enjoying the many entertaining activities provided such as the Sail Boat Regatta, face painting, ring toss, water relay and, of course, the scavenger hunt.

It was a hot day, but thanks to the Friends of Benson Park, the little ones were able to cool down with some complimentary drinks and ice cream.  Gary Gasdia, cub master of Pack 20, explained how scouting is more about the whole family getting together to have fun and not just the boys:  “A cub master running a pack just doesn’t work; a cub master sending out e-mails with a bunch of parents and a bunch of families involved is the way it works.  Today is a great example of that.”
