Since February is Responsible Pet Owners Month, the Salem Animal Rescue League (SARL) teamed up with Rockingham Toyota Saturday, February 15 for a “Responsible Pet Owners” party at the dealership.  The purpose of the fundraising party was to raise money for SARL while pet owners and their kids could brush up on their pet parenting skills.  Animal Control Officer Carie Bliss of Salem gave a speech, accompanied by Cindy Simon a volunteer for SARL, informing the attending pet owners of basic pet parenting skills.

After the informative presentation, kids could be seen enjoying food, games and face painting as they awaited a performance by famed children’s entertainer Leland Faulkner.  Faulkner’s multi-character show consisted of many forms of illusion, trickery and magic.  His most popular act had to have been his dynamic shadow puppet performance, which included visuals and sounds of such animals as a rooster, bunny and a camel to name a few.  Leland who has performed in theatres large and small, local and international, captured his audience’s hearts and imaginations that day just as he has at venues around the globe.  From the stages of the United States and Canada to the theatres and circuses of Japan, Hong Kong, China and Russia, this entertainer is not only fun but also suitable for audiences of all ages.
