Santa and Mrs. Claus Visit Hudson Bar to Benefit Toys For Tots
December 14, 2018
by Len Lathrop with help from Judy Mank
For the third year, “The Bar” on Burnham Road organized a Saturday afternoon event to give back to the community, with a Toys for Tots collection as a tribute to their collective friend, the late Joe Perigny. Jamie Adams mentioned that Joe was his best friend and was sadly taken away at age 44; somehow his dedication to veterans and the community needed to be honored. Everyone agreed that Toys for Tots with the Marines was the best way.
Every year the event has grown. The even started on Saturday the 8th at 1 p.m. and went all the way to midnight. When owner Judy Mank reported to the paper, all she could say was “I have the best customers.” The 2018 collection brought in 19 bikes and helmets, two trailer loads of toys, and a check for $1,100.
Santa and Mrs. Claus welcomed everyone and “The Bar” was hopping with live music, raffles, great food, and libations. Santa arrived early afternoon, and Mrs. Claus and Judy Mank had the establishment ready. There were candy canes for all, and, for the children needing toys, it was a very good night.
