Python Teams Qualify for Post Season Play

May 31, 2013

Resultant from a solid spring sports season, three Python teams have made their way into the 2013 playoff picture.  Coach Todd Lozeau’s Lady Python softball team posted an impressive 10-6 record, finishing 11th in the D-3 standings.  After a first round bye, Pelham will visit Newport for a second round encounter with the #6 ranked Tigers on Friday, May 31.

Meanwhile, Coach Billy Beauchesne’s baseball ensemble concluded its regular season with an 8 and 8 mark, good for a 14th place finish which pitted them in a ‘play-in’ matchup against #19 Mascenic Regional on May 28.  Trailing 3-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, Chris Gamble singled to score Ryan Frank with the tying run and three batters later with the bases full of Pythons, ‘Newt’ (Alex Newton) came through with a walk-off single; plating Gamble and advancing Pelham to a second round battle at Bow on Thursday, May 30.

The boys’ lacrosse team had another fine season, finishing with an 11-3 record which landed them in 5th place; giving them a first round home game against Mondadnock Regional, also on May 28.  The Pythons completely dominated enroute to a 15-2 humbling of the 13th ranked Huskies.  With the win, Pelham advanced to the D-3 quarterfinals and will travel to Plymouth to take on the 4th ranked Bobcats on Thursday, May 30.
