Proud ELC Students Salute Veterans with a Parade
November 15, 2019

Hoping to start a new tradition, students from the H.O. Smith and the Library Street schools honored the veterans in their family by lining School Street. Veterans and family members marched in the street and under a large American flag that hung from the Hudson Fire Department’s fire truck. Each student who had some connection with a veteran or active military member had a sign mentioning that student’s hero.
Two separate parades were held due to the different starting times for the half-day kindergarten programs. In all, about 30 or so veterans walked in the two parades. Even Hudson Superintendent Larry Russell walked for his father and son. About 20 staff members walked for either veterans that could not make it or active military currently serving.
