Presentation of Mary Academy Teacher is Named Assistant Principal

July 19, 2019

It is an honor for the Presentation of Mary Academy to announce that the new assistant principal is Lisa Toohey.  Mrs. Toohey is no stranger to the school community, especially to the middle school students.  As fifth graders, they have had the privilege of being educated by her.

Toohey’s experience in the classroom expands over a 20-year period.  She began her teaching career at Infant Jesus School in the 1990s and then joined the PMA community in 2014.  She has been an asset to the mission and vitality of the school community.   Toohey has always gone the extra mile to enhance the life of the school community by her involvement in extracurricular activities including the drama club, PMA Mission Committee, Curriculum Committee, staff development as well as numerous social events at PMA.

One of Toohey’s most impressive attributes is her focus on student-centered learning and developing a culture in her classroom that allows students to be the best of who they are called to be.  We are confident that she will bring that same passion and philosophy to the schoolwide community.  Her gentle, caring, yet firm disposition has won her the respect of students, parents, and colleagues.

Lisa Toohey holds a BA degree in elementary education.  Her commitment to Catholic education is evident in the reality that her son, Colin, graduated from PMA and is now an honor student at Bishop Guertin High School.

The PMA community is excited to welcome Mrs. Toohey to the Presentation of Mary Academy Administrative Team as the staff looks forward to “giving our families the best of who we are!”  The staff welcomes all local students to come by and see what PMA is all about.

Please continue to enjoy your summer!
