Scouts and families of Pack 266 came together on Feb. 11 to celebrate the anniversary of Scouting at the annual Blue & Gold Banquet and Crossover Ceremony. The evening was filled with a silent auction, games, food, awards and inspiration for the leaders, Scouts and parents.
The evening started with the Arrow of Light Award Ceremony led by Harry Burnham Pack 266 co-founder. The Arrow of Light is the pinnacle of a Cub Scout’s career. It is also the only one of two Cub Scout awards and insignia that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform. The members of the two Arrow of Light dens, Den 1 and Den 3, worked extremely hard to achieve this ranking.
Harry Burnham brought each Arrow of Light recipient to the front and spoke with each Scout individually. He focused on each of the boys being the same yet celebrating their uniqueness. Each boy brings his own talents and strengths that strengthen the group as a whole. Each Scout was encouraged to continue with his journey, remember his strengths and talents, and bring those with them as they enter Boy Scouts and to always remember who helped them along their way.
Throughout the evening families participated in a silent auction that benefited the pack and their activities throughout the year. Pack 266 thanks the vendors and families that donated to the event. Their donations helped to make this event possible. They were as follows: Hannafords Supermarket, The Brockman Family, Klemms Mobile, Windham Barber Shop, Clix Portrait Studios, Law Offices of Suzan Messina, Cyr Lumber, Chunkys Cinema, Manchester Monarchs, Home Depot, McDonalds, Annie’s Baldoria, Maddies, Lindt Chocolatier, Santa’s Village, Montshire Museum, Squam Lake, Lobster Tail Restaurant, House of Nails Spa, Karate International, Stars & Stripes Gift Shop, Laser Craze, Launch, AMC, Fischer Cats, Shaws, Cobbett’s Pond Pizzeria, Christen’s Creative Styles, The Ice Skating Academy, Nicole Brockman Rodan + Fields Independent Consultant, Mary Ann’s Jay Gee’s, Windham Country Club, Lucia’s Bodega, Gym-Ken Gymnastics, Market Basket, Friendly Red’s Tavern, Just Breathe Yoga NH, The Linardos Family, cake provided by Christy Donahue, and Pool Tables Unlimited. A big thank you to all of the Windham High School volunteers who donated their time and talents behind the scenes prepping before the event, setting up, and cleaning up afterward.
After games, dinner, and awards the Arrow of Light recipients concluded with the Crossover Ceremony. The ceremony began with a slide show presentation, graciously created by Karen Korza, of the past five years. Each Scout was invited to cross over a rope bridge that signified the ending of Cub Scouts and the beginning of Boy Scouts. Boys crossed over into Windham’s two Boy Scout Troops 266 and 263. Arrow of Light recipients from Den 1 who crossed over were Sawyer Brockman, Brendon Furtado, Jacob Korza, Thomas McAleer, Riley Prugnarola, Colin Schwegler and Slayde Watson. Arrow of Light recipients from Den 3 who crossed over were Aeden Downey, Bobby Dwyer, Charlie Linardos, Zachary MacDonald, Aleks Martin and Bennett Ryan. The evening was a celebratory success.
