On Thursday, July 18 the newly formed Litchfield Seniors met in the basement of the Litchfield Community Church to enjoy ice cream sundaes and live “50s” music provided by local Hudson musician Del Stephens.  This group of local senior citizens has gathered on the third Thursday of every month for the past two years as a way to get out of the house and socialize.  The group was first organized when Betty Darling President of the Litchfield Seniors and Chairperson of the Litchfield Activities Committee began brainstorming with her sister Sandra and local town Selectmen Pat Jewett.  Now two years later the organization is growing in size and is jam packed with fun activities for these seniors to enjoy together.  The group has various forms of entertainment such as the upcoming ventriloquist performance, as well as a speaker who will give a presentation on Abraham Lincoln.  Betty reflected on the senior group by saying, “I feel tremendous that we made this happen, we have people that have made great friendships here.”
