Litchfield School Board Votes 4-0 to Extend Superintendent’s ContractOctober 10, 2014 by Lynne Ober
On Wednesday, October 1, the Litchfield School Board was called to order, the Pledge of Allegiance given, agenda adjustments given and then School Board Chairman Dennis Miller read a statement and resigned. Immediately following his resignation, he departed the school board meeting and a new chairman was elected.
Correspondence from parents and others in support of terminated Superintendent Cochrane was reviewed and then the meeting continued.
At the end of that same meeting school board members voted to go into non-public session. Thursday morning Litchfield School District released a press release stating that the board voted unanimously to extend Dr. Cochrane’s contract for two years. The press release is shown below.
Press Release from Litchfield School District
On Wednesday, October 1, 2014 members of the Litchfield School Board met for their normally scheduled School Board meeting. During the non-public portion of the School Board meeting late last evening, School Board members and Superintendent Cochrane had a thorough discussion about how to move forward as a unified team. After careful consideration, as well as community input, the motion was made to re-open the vote and reconsider extending Dr. Cochrane’s contract. In a unanimous vote (4-0), the decision was made to extend Dr. Cochrane’s contract for an additional two years. Dr. Cochrane has the board’s full support and we look forward to working closely with the Superintendent to continue the progress being made in the Litchfield School District. We also thank the community for their valuable input.
