Superintendant Bryan Lane presented a revised schedule that was discussed at the Hudson School Board workshop of June 30, for the upcoming school year, which with no snow days would have the 2014-2015 year finished on June 17, 2015.  The first day for students remains September 2.

The changes approved by the board:

The first day of school for teachers will be moved one day earlier to August 25.

The teacher in-service day scheduled for Friday, March 20, will be eliminated; March 20 will be a school day for all students.

December 22 and 23, currently scheduled as part of the holiday recess, will be school days for all students.  If families have scheduled these days to go away on vacation, they will be counted as documented absences as long as the schools are informed in advance.  Teachers who have scheduled this time as vacation time must notify their principal by December 1 to arrange coverage for classes.

This will make the last scheduled day for student June 17, if there are no snow days.  With five snow days, the last day of school will be June 24.

Graduation will be scheduled for Thursday, June 18.

Prior to the vote, Hudson Federation of Teachers President Beth Lavoie spoke with the board and stated that the changes were very well received by staff and the earlier finish time might help teachers and students seeking summer employment.  The motion to change the calendar was made by Patti Langlais and seconded by Megan Pollack and carried 4-0.
