Hudson Old Home Days is just around the corner, Thursday, August 15 through Sunday, August 18, and the committee is working diligently to make sure this event is one that all ages will enjoy. They have many of the wonderful activities that have always been at Old Home Days and in addition added some new ones.
Entertainment for this year will feature something for everyone and always free. New bands include “Walkin’ The Line” for Country Night on Thursday, August 15, “Figure Eight” on Friday Night, August 16, “The Rock Daddy’s” performing on Saturday afternoon, August 17 followed up on Saturday Night with “Horizon” returning from last year.
New this year is a singing competition, “Are You the Voice of Hudson Old Home Days,” presented by Perfect Entertainment and Sponsored by Charles Schwab of Nashua for ages 9 through 21 being held on Friday, Saturday and the Finals on Sunday. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three in three age categories and the winners will be our featured performers on Sunday! Prizes for first place in each age group will receive $200 and $25 T-BONES Gift Certificate; second place in each age group will receive $50 and $25 T-BONES Gift Certificate; and third place will be award $25 and $25 T-BONES Gift Certificate. All local talented youths are welcome to audition!
Also new this year is Rock ‘n Roll Racing sponsored by Continental Paving and Subaru of Nashua, a remote control NASCAR style racing experience happening all day on Saturday, August 17! R&S Fireworks will be the highlight of the event again this year with plans of putting on a phenomenal fireworks show Saturday night.
Trick or Treat in August? You can find it here at Hudson Old Home Days. Events will kick off on Thursday night, August 15, with trick or treating for children up to ages 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. around the grounds visiting each of the vendors. At 7 p.m. there will be a “Parade of Horribles” and then the “best costume” awards ceremony on the front porch of the Hills House.
The carnival will begin on Thursday night and continue through Sunday, along with other fun activities running in conjunction with the carnival. Special deals are available on Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon for the carnival rides where “Pay One Price” wristbands are available and ride enthusiasts can take advantage of great pricing and the opportunity to enjoy as many rides as possible.
Hudson Old Home Days will have kid’s games throughout the day on Saturday, petting zoo and wagon rides presented by the FFA students and advisers of Alvirne. This year the Hudson drama students will be “Bringing History to Life” as they recreate life in the historic Hills House. Enjoy the Haystack Treasure Hunt every year? It is back, and we have exciting prizes for all categories on Sunday with an Adult Haystack Hunt on Friday night. Also on Friday will be rides on the RE/MAX hot air balloon with all proceeds to benefit the Alvirne High School Booster Club! Joining the fun on Sunday, August 18th will be Chunky’s Cinema Pub as they bring their Prize Wheel and Bio Truck – everyone’s a winner!
Old Home Days kicks off on Thursday August 15 and continues through Sunday August 18 on the Hills House grounds across from Alvirne High School in Hudson – Everyone is Welcome!
