Of the many shining moments throughout the holiday season, one of the brightest is the Alvirne Unified Holiday Theater Extravaganza. This year’s production, “The Christmas Carol,” has truly shown how much the program has grown since its beginning five years ago. Under the direction of English teacher Lauren Denis and Unified Music Director Michael Gallagan, Unified students spent weeks learning their lines and the music in preparation for their two sold-out shows. The fan reviews speak volumes for how the theater group has become a “not-to-be-missed” holiday event every year.
English teacher/Tech Advisor Jen LaFrance is so excited and pleased to see “how far this production and these kids have come –- from a mostly adult-driven show five-to-six years ago, with every line carefully fed to the performers to a mostly student-driven show, and several students having memorized their lines so they could truly perform! Such an accomplishment!”
CTE Floral instructor Sue Hill stated, “Once again the Unified Christmas show was jaw-dropping. This is definitely the feel-good show of the year. Watching the students perform warms your heart and gets you in the Christmas spirit. It’s a joy to see how proud and accomplished each actor feels. This year my husband came along and now he better understands and appreciates how I feel about my students. He actually had tears in his eyes during the performance!”
If you were unable to see the production and sing-along you’re in luck, HCTV-21 recorded Friday night’s show. Dates and times for the Christmas Carol will be posted.
