A Bustling Week for the Ladies of Alvirne Soccer

October 18, 2019

Starting last Tuesday the Bronco ladies have played four games, winning two and dropping two.  At 5-6-1, they are 11th in the Division 1 standings with three games left in the regular season.  In D1, 70 percent of the teams move on to the playoffs.  The division has 21 combatants, so that makes 14 the in/out number.

Manchester Central will be in town on the 22nd, which will also be Senior Night, but could be tough as they are 9-2-1.  Remember that sports teams can always be beaten.  But before that, the ladies travel to Portsmouth this Friday the 18th for a 6 p.m. game and on the 25th they close the season at Manchester Memorial for 4 p.m.

Back to last Tuesday, it was a special game.  Dressed in pink jerseys, the players gave two of the moms, Gretchen Whiting and Lynne Juliano, pink roses.  In equally good news, they won the game against Keene 3-0 and they followed that win the following day at Spaulding High School 4-1.  When they went to Windham on Friday the 11th, they came home with a 0-3 loss, and then they dropped the next one to Concord 0-3.

When Coach Ruigrok was asked about the rest of the season, he believes that they need at least one more win to get into the playoffs.  He continued, “We’ve been playing inconsistently, playing well in our win against Keene and loss against Concord, but not as well in our win against Spaulding and loss against Windham.  In those games, goals were scored by Marissa Juliano (2), Rose Boudreau (2), Ashley Lecomte, Abbey Dubois, and Paige Boudreau.  Kelly Perry and Ashley Lecomte have led the way at center midfield.  We need to play more consistently and take advantage of our scoring opportunities.”

Come out on the 22nd to cheer the ladies into the playoffs.
